Who are you?My name is Yvonne. I live with my partner, our 2 cats and our 8 bicycles. | What kind of rider are you?I love using my bicycles for commuting everywhere and running errands, as well as my lycra road rides. |
What does cycling mean to you?Cycling means freedom, independence and happiness. I can go wherever I want, whenever I want and have fun and get fit while I’m doing it! And bonus environmental benefits! I never thought I would be a road cyclist, so road cycling taught me how awesome my body is and the amazing things I can do with a bit of commitment and discipline. And that I can never say never! Your favourite ride in Sydney? My favourite rides are Bourke St protected cycleway and West Head / Akuna Bay. Or anywhere where I get to see people walking their dogs. | Tell me about your bike(s)?I have 3 bikes and am currently trying to decide which one to upgrade first! Scarlet Witch, my red Liv Avail road bike is the powerful one. Lucy Brown, my trusty commuter who’s cute but grumpy. I put swept back bars on her to remind me of cycling in Italy! Peg, my Liv Brava CX bike. She’s really cute and she solves problems. Favourite place in the world to cycle?Italy - Tuscany / Umbria, although I am looking forward to acquiring new favourites! |
If bicycles didn’t exist, you would…?lI would be a lot less relaxed, fit and happy. | Anything else you want to add?I used to ride as a kid but never thought of it as a method of transportation. I bought my first bicycle 2 years ago and after doing the Sydney Cycleways free Cycling In The City and Bike Care Maintenance course, have not stopped cycling since! They changed my life. I am very supportive of and starting to get involved in the amazing work of the Bicycle User Groups (BUGs) under Bicycle NSW. I really believe bicycles will change the world and I so passionately want everyone to feel as excited as I do when riding a bicycle. Thank you Yvonne for sharing your story with us! |
