We love riding and we love sharing that experience with people. Imagine being able to share that experience with people less mobile and unable to ride. Cycling Without Age (CWA) is a movement that does that. It started in Denmark as an experience between one Danish bike rider, his older friend and a bike with a seat. After a friendship that blossomed over conversations in a park the two started taking adventures on a bike and their friendship continued to blossom. CWA has spread across the world and has inspired so many people to get out there and connect intergenerationally, and has found the health benefits have been noticeable in the elderly residents.
The idea is to take people less mobile and active out on a bike ride to share the "wind in the hair" and to share a good yarn*.
SXR was part of the launch of the NSW chapter in March 2017 with IRT, an aged care facility in Woolwich, a trishaw donated by Zendesk, BikEast, and other like minded individuals. With so many positive reports from the residents we hope to continue the initiative at IRT and across the state.
